Small find of the season…

Dr. Mark Schuler Hippos, NIP, storage jar July 25, 2016

Ben

Concordia student Ben Meyer made the small find of the season at the Northeast Insula Project of the Hippos Excavations. He recovered a fully intact storage jar with a white finish. Its contents will be analyzed for hints as to what was stored in the jar. More details to follow.

Ben did the complete excavation of the jar, carefully removing surrounding soil until he could roll the jar free. Cradling it in his arms, Ben exclaimed, “It’s like giving birth.”
